Monrovia, February 11, 2026
The leadership of the Liberia Marketing Association (LMA) have signed a resolution to postpone the association’s national elections previously scheduled for the third week of February, 2026.
In a resolution witnessed by a Government Oversight Team signed Monday, February 9, 2026, the leaders set March 28th as the new date for the elections. A press release from the Government Oversight Team says the elections will coincide with the Annual Convention of the LMA, expected to commence on March 26, 2026, in the north-eastern city of Sanniquellie.
The release quotes the Resolution as saying the prevailing institutional climate and the need for a comprehensive electoral roadmap have necessitated a bridge period to ensure the association remains functional and stable.
According to the resolution, all parties formally recognize the March 28th election date and pledged to support the election committee in delivering free, fair and transparent elections headed by a team of independent professionals which includes representation from the National Election Commission (NEC), Liberia National Bar Association (LNBA), amongst others.
Recently, a Government Oversight Team was setup chaired by the Ministry of Local Government and co-chaired by the office of the Vice President of the Republic of Liberia to mediate disagreement among stakeholders over electoral and operational issues.
At Monday’s meeting, the LMA leadership endorsed the Convention guideline and Election timetable as well as the Financial Guidance and Reporting Protocol.
